Truckers' Intervention Program
Truckers Intervention
Truckers are both victims and carriers of STD/HIV because of the innumerable encounters they have with sex workers on the highways. They carry the infection from one place to another, even to their spouse at home. No hard data was available till Bhoruka conducted the sexual behaviour and sero prevalence study in 1993 at Uluberia in West Bengal.
At present Bhoruka implements interventions at 5 major halt points located in the five states of Eastern India, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar and Assam.
